Cardiology Referral Service

Cardiac_Surgery.JPGWe have an RCVS Certificate Holder within the practice in Laurence J. Brown BVMS CertVC MRCVS who has a Certificate in Veterinary Cardiology and over 20 years of experience in the diagnosis and management of cardiac disease.

Royal College Certificates are a further qualification that vets can sit as a postgraduate qualification once they have been in practice for a few years. They are required to produce a casebook demonstrating their knowledge in their chosen field and then sit written and oral examinations.

Certificate holders are not classed as 'specialists' but they must demonstrate a more detailed and extensive knowledge around their chosen subject, to be awarded an RCVS Certificate.

Ultrasound_Machine2.JPGCertificate holders are often willing to see more challenging cases as second opinion cases from other vets. At Ashby Road, Laurence Brown already takes referrals in Cardiac and Respiratory cases from a number of surrounding practices.

We also do heart testing (Auscultation Panel) for breed society certification.

We also now have another vet, Edgar Osminin MRCVS who is studying towards Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (Cardiology). So we will hopefully soon have two Cardiologist on the team.
